The wood fibre mill will be integrated with the merchandising yard.
As the merchandising yard cross cuts the logs, short pieces suitable only for pulpwood will be produced.
These will be conveyed to a chipper.
The chips are screened and those suitable for use in paper production or fibreboard manufacture are stored in bins for transport off site.
It is estimated that about 100000 tonnes of chips may be generated each year.
A future stage of the wood centre is planned to include a fibreboard plant that will be able to use some of the wood fibre produced on site.
